Seconds after the throw-in at Páirc Uí Chaoimh yesterday, just after Alan Tynan had put the ball over the bar, I said to myself, ‘Here we go, great start for Tipp.’ But the game hadn’t started. In effect, the match was already over.

It was just a pity that Darragh McCarthy got a red card when he did because it’s hard enough to beat Cork with 15 men. But with 14 men? Everyone in the crowd, and watching on TV, had already accepted that there was only going to be one outcome.
