Anthony Daly: You'd have to be concerned after listless Banner performance

That mood was everywhere. The crowd was lifeless and lethargic. Even though I have great faith in the lads, you’d have to be worried.

After the Clare-Wexford game in Ennis yesterday, I ambled over the Cathedral at the top of O’Connell Street to attend Bishop Willie Walsh’s removal. It was almost fitting that his funeral was on the same day as a big game in the town because the man lived for hurling.

As soon as I walked up the steps, I could see genuine hurling people everywhere I looked. Before I even got in the door, heads started nodding at me, eyebrows began cocking up. ‘Well, were you over,’ one fella asked me, knowing full well that I was. ‘Is it time for us to start getting worried?’ You have to give huge credit to Wexford but this was a worrying display from Clare. The biggest concern I’d have is around the lack of hunger and bite, which was also evident against Galway.
