When it comes to Munster finals, what Clare and Limerick have done to date is quite common but what they’ll do on Sunday is extremely rare.

You have to go all the way back to 1970, when the Ban and Archbishop McQuaid were still in situ, for the previous time any same two teams met in the Munster final for a third consecutive year; fittingly and unsurprisingly, it was the province’s old firm of Cork and Tipp that served up that particular three-part series.
