Anthony Daly: Reaching final a great achievement but Clare won't get carried away

Are there some cracks appearing in the Limerick aura after Saturday night? I don’t think so.

On my way into O’Moore Park yesterday, I met Eimear Gaynor, now Eimear Cahill, daughter of Len and wife of Liam. I barely recognised her because she had a hat on but there was a time when I saw Eimear and her sisters around the place more often than I saw my own sisters - they used to always come to training with Len when he was Clare manager in the early 1990s.

Once the chat started, we started talking more about the now than the past. “Ye’ll win this, ye’ll want it more than us,” I said. Eimear wasn’t buying that theory. “Lohan could do with a trophy too at this stage,” she shot back. I definitely thought she’d have the inside track more than me through her husband, and maybe Eimear was right. Tipp could do with silverware. But so could Clare.
