As two friends fell out in front of the Kildare dressing room in Netwatch Cullen Park on Sunday evening, the irony was the individual at the centre of the disagreement wasn’t present.

Of course, Kildare’s dreadful form has played its part too but county chairman Mick Gorman did say what he was reported to have said by Tommy Callaghan, the widely-respected sports editor of The Leinster Leader. The Kildare Nationalist corroborated his account as has another who was in attendance at the county board meeting in Allenwood on February 5 to this journalist.
