West Cork’s Baltimore more resembled the Cote d’Azur throughout August, with blistering sunshine, glittering water, boats flitting about, and holidaymakers not looking too scanty either…a good time to sell a house and a lifestyle here for sure.

Coming just a bit late in the summer season was No 6 The Courtyard, arriving for sale in mid to late August with a €525,000 price tag.

That was for this likely early 2000s-built end-terrace four-bed home deep within a niche setting off the Skibbereen road into Baltimore proper.

Set beside a communal green in the relatively compact development by the local Community Hall with a mix of house styles to a quite traditional streetscape design, No 6 is a bit different in having a ground floor en suite bedroom off to the side in a single storey wing to the main three-bay house.

Recently painted a dark navy blue with contrasting yellow door in a small central porch, it has a living room left of the hall, a kitchen/dining roomto the right as well as a utility room and guest WC. Upstairs are three further bedrooms, one with en suite, while the other two share the main bathroom.

No 6 has been a rental for the past number of years, but now could suit “either as a permanent residence, a holiday home or as an investment purchase,” reckons selling agent Maeve McCarthy of McCarthy Auctioneers.

“Baltimore continues to perform strongly within the West Cork market,” she adds.

Set at the back of The Courtyard, No 6 has brick paving in front, has a brick patio in a private back garden, has a C BER with electric storage heating, and some residents appear have kept small boats seasonally on trailers around the communal parking and green.

The Courtyard is within a short walk of the village core and pier and slipway, where two-star Michelin chef Ahmet Dede is set to add a high end niche accommodation business above his recently opened cellar wine bar/deli on The Square next to legendary Bushes.

VERDICT: No 6 needs decorative updating most likely in new hands. Only a handful of resales at the Courtyard show on the Price Register, the last was No 10 in 2024 which made €410,000, while the wider Baltimore area has over 40 sales in excess of €500k.
