It’s not an exaggeration to say that No 2 Shanagarry Holiday Village is almost a new house since the four-bed mid-terrace property has been quite significantly rebuilt since it was gutted by fire in 2019.

“The external walls and the double-glazed windows remained but everything else had to be replaced including the roof, the internal walls, the floors, the kitchen, the bathrooms and all the contents,” reveals Helen Kearney of CCM Property.

A spacious 130 sq metre property with a guide of €295,000, it’s now been completely refurbished and given a very modern finish. Fitted with anthracite grey kitchen units and Italian marble floor tiles, the kitchen/dining/living space area now has a new set of bi-folding doors.

The house has two bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs and the same upstairs, including a bedroom used as a music room.

“The property has been insulated and soundproofed and now has an upgraded B1 BER rating,’’ reveals Ms Kearney.

Located close to Shanagarry village, it’s 16 km from Midleton and within 3 km from beaches at Garryvoe, Ardnahinch and Ballinamona.

Like most properties in the 2005-built holiday development, this has long since become an owner-occupied home. Ms Kearney believes that, given its spacious modern accommodation and high energy rating, it may well be snapped up by a young couple.

VERDICT: Viewers will appreciate the space, the modernity and the energy rating, but just might want to introduce a little colour to the décor.

The most astonishing thing about this two-bed ground-floor apartment on 7 Bridgefield Grove in Curraheen in Bishopstown is the size of its back garden.

“It has the same size garden as many houses,’’ says Sean McCarthy of ERA Downey McCarthy who recently listed the 2008 built property with a guide of €295,000.

Situated in a mixed development off the Curraheen Road it’s a well-maintained, 60 sq metre apartment which has been owner-occupied.

Inside the front door, it has a timber floored living/dining space with a pale grey and blue colour scheme and an archway leading through to a kitchenette

To the rear it has a bathroom and two bedrooms both with fitted wardrobes and glass doors opening into the back garden.

The garden, which can also be accessed from a side gate, is enclosed by a high wall and could, with a bit of effort and some plants make a great space for sitting out.

The location is mature and very popular says Mr McCarthy who got an immediate bid of €300,000 from one of the first viewers this week.

“ It’s got a B3 Ber which makes it eligible for a Green Mortgage so it’s good for first-time buyers but it could also attract downsizers, parents of students or investors.”

Located within a 20-minute walk from MTU, it’s around two and a half km from Wilton Shopping Centre.

Recent sales in Bridgefield Grove include that of No 14 sold for €385,000 in March last year. This property, No 7 sold for €279.000 in 2023.

VERDICT: Buyers, who want an apartment with more than just a tiny balcony, will love it.

More spacious and more affordable than many more recently built apartments, Apartment 401 in Atkins Hall, a converted 19th-century Gothic-style building on Lee Road, is on the market with a guide of €220,000.

“It’s a top floor two-bed 90 sq metres property which is in good condition and doesn’t have a rent cap,‘’ reveals Terry Hayes of Hayes Property.

Accommodation includes a kitchen/dining/living room with a high ceiling with exposed beams, timber flooring and fitted units. It also has a bathroom with exposed brickwork, two bedrooms ( one en suite) and has one designated parking space.

Mr Hayes says that properties in this price range almost always sell quickly.

VERDICT: Affordable, spacious and rather quirky.
