Sometimes friends will ask Maggie Molloy: “What made you apply for a job with RTÉ?”

As we’re talking on a rare day when Maggie has a break from a tight filming schedule for the national broadcaster’s Cheap Irish Homes, the question is an understandable one — even if it makes Maggie laugh: “I never had the confidence to do that — auditioning for a TV role would never have crossed my mind. I had far more humble dreams!”
