Garden Digest: Goodbye winter, hello spring

  • Kanturk Flower and Garden Club will meet on Wednesday, April 3 in The Temperance Hall, Strand Street, Kanturk (next to the Alley Bar) at 8pm. Guest speaker Ingrid Swan – Garden Designer – who will speak on “Planting Design in the Garden”. Everyone welcome. Refreshments served. Entry €5.
  • Glengarra Flower and Garden Club welcome Siobhan Connolly Hogan - Sona Wellbeing with "Springing Forward" - A Happiness and Wellbeing Talk. It takes place at 7.30pm on Thursday, April 4 at Burncourt Community Centre. Members €5. Non-members €10. To book your place text or call 087 288 7615.
  • Macroom Flower & Garden Club will host a floral demonstration by Malcolm Kitt (AOIFA) entitled “Goodbye Winter Hello Spring” on Thursday, April 4 at Coolcower House P12E135 at 8pm. The event includes club competitions and a sales table. New members and visitors are most welcome. Further enquires 087-9821708.
  • Fermoy Flower and Garden Club will host an evening with landscape gardener Dominic Cullinane on Tuesday, April 2 at 8pm in the Adair Hall. All welcome, visitors €10.
  • Cobh Flower and Horticulture Club will hold their next meeting in Cobh Community Centre on Monday, April 8 at 7pm. Our speaker for the evening will be Dominic Cullinane and he will give a talk on gardening. There will be plants on sale. Visitors welcome. Admission €5.
  • The Festival of Gardens and Nature is a new gardening event founded by Catherine FitzGerald and Minnie Preston which takes place in Ballintubbert Gardens and House in Stradbally, Co Laois, on the weekend of April 20 and 21. It is being described as Electric Picnic meets Gardeners’ World! The festival brings together a hugely diverse group of speakers from the worlds of contemporary garden design, horticulture, historic gardens and nature conservation. “We aim to look closely at our relationship with gardens and nature, explore changing perspectives and to share knowledge and expertise. In a time when our gardens and landscapes are more precious than ever before, join us for a fruitful weekend of exchanging ideas,” Catherine FitzGerald, co-founder, says.
