Wish List: Eight fab finds to add zest and zing for spring

The cake stand, blanket and rug in this week's Wish List.

LUXURY CHOICE

Designed by Cork-based printmaker Deirdre Breen, this pure wool, hand-tufted Aslar rug was made in Ireland. Breen works in large-scale screen prints characterised by flat abstract motifs and geometric compositions.

She has collaborated with Ceadogán on four rugs as part of the Ripple Effect collection. While the Aslar is available in a variety of sizes, this one is 1.2m x 2.4m and is €2,560 from Ceadogán Rugmakers.

SWEET TREAT

Their work is whimsical, fantastical and refreshingly extraordinary. Whatever they do creatively, the Haas Brothers generate a whirlwind of attention.

These twins have rewritten rules and put their stamp on a myriad of spaces. That they’re rumoured to have been commissioned by Lady Gaga and Donatella Versace, speaks for itself. As for us, we love their quirky pieces. This one is the small L'Objet x Haas Brothers fox cake stand. Made with glass and gold-plated alloy, it’s €1,750 from Farfetch.

CHILD'S PLAY

Decorating a nursery or any children's room is always a joy. With its bold red and white stripes, this hot air balloon ceiling light is perfectly cheery.

With its playful design, it’s bound to ignite the imaginations of both the young people it’s designed for and the bedtime storytellers who help send them off to sleep. Made in France with environmentally friendly and recyclable materials, it complies with CE safety standards. It’s €49.95 from Little Ones.

POWER PRINT

Hand-made at a family-run business in India, using traditional block printing techniques along with natural dyes and pigments, this peony cushion exudes character and charm.

Encompassing a fusion of craftsmanship and cultural heritage, along with the innate artistry of Helen Turkington, it’s quietly decorous in an entirely stylish way. It’s €110 at Helen Turkington.

CHINA IN YOUR HAND

From her base in Cork, Siobhain Steele hand-crafts elegant pieces that fuse literature and nature with function. Working with porcelain, bone china, stoneware clays and slips, she uses hand-building and slip-casting methods.

Each piece she creates takes at least two weeks to complete, as it passes through the forming, fettling, decorating and glazing stages. We love this ceramic vase with its circle of hearts. It’s €49 from Siobhain Steele Ceramics.

SUPER SUPPLEMENT

We all need a kick-start in the mornings and Revive Active's new tropical flavour makes it that much easier. With 26 active ingredients —  including a variety of vitamins, minerals and amino acids, plus its stand-out ingredient 150mg of coenzyme Q10, an antioxidant that plays a critical role in cellular energy — it's a handy way to start the day right.

A box of the supplement is €59.99 and is available from health-food stores and pharmacies nationwide and also at Reviveactive.com.

WRAP IT UP

Woven from Irish wool, this deep blue blanket is the epitome of luxurious comfort. Finished with contrasting edging in a sunray blanket stitch, it’s full-bodied yet soft to the touch.

With its natural temperature-regulating properties, it will keep you warm or cool, as required, while you sleep. It’s €395 from Cushendale Woollen Mills.

PERFECT VESSEL

This vase is the epitome of elegance. Its simplicity makes it the perfect vessel for either showcasing a bouquet of garden flowers or for storing something precious.

Hand-thrown using artisanal techniques in Italy, just outside Florence, its form is inspired by traditional baroque style urns, re-imagined for a contemporary home. Standing 38cm in height, it’s also a statement decorative piece in its own right. It’s €265 from Rebecca Udall.
