Cobh Flower & Horticulture Club will hold a talk by Jody Smith from Botanic Home and Garden Centre in Cobh Community Centre on Monday, October 7, at 7.30pm.

Fermoy Flower and Garden Club will host the demonstration “Season of Mist and Mellow Fruitfulness” by Rose Hickey (AOIFA) Conna on Tuesday, October 1, in the New Adair Hall, Christ Church, Fermoy, at 8pm. Visitors €7.

The club would also like to wish AOIFA every success in this weekend’s National Flower Festival in Cobh.

The Irish Garden Plant Society (Munster) will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, October 1, at Northridge House, starting at 8pm. The talk, entitled “Arcadia — can we achieve it?”, will be given by Christopher Moore, architectural historian.

Cork Gardening Club hosts a talk by Martin Walsh, garden designer and plant explorer, on “Wicklow Walled Garden — Reimagined”, on Thursday, October 10, at Nemo Rangers, South Douglas Road, Cork, at 8pm.

Owenabue Garden & Flower Vlub, Carrigaline, holds its annual decorative show on Monday, October 21, at 8pm in the C of I School Hall.

An “Autumn Glam” demonstration will be given by Melanie Harris, AOIFA, enquiries, 086-3222615.

Cork GIY will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, October 1, in the Hydro Farm Allotments Tower/Blarney at 7.30pm. The talk will be on pest control without the use of pesticides or toxic sprays.

Admission is free. All welcome. Tea/coffee/biscuits provided.

National Flower Festival, Splendour in Flowers and Stone, takes place at St Colman’s Cathedral, Cobh, on Saturday, September 28, 11am-5pm, and Sunday, September 29, 1pm-4.30pm.

Concert featuring Amanda Neri, Saturday, September 28, at 8pm in Cathedral. Concert tickets, €15, available on the night or pre-book with Margaret 087-7987775 or Noreen 086-3642564. The event is supporting Pieta House.
