Auction will celebrate Steely Dan’s co-founder
JULIEN’S AUCTIONS in Beverly Hills is to present a two-day celebration of Steely Dan co-founder Walter Becker, live and online, on October 18 and 19.
Property from the estate of the multi-Grammy winning guitarist and co-songwriter of hits like “Do it Again” and “Rikki Don’t Lose That Number” will include musical instruments and gear owned and cherished by Becker.
Known for his immediately identifiable guitar tone, his intimate knowledge of the tools of studio and stage, and his unique ear, Becker is heralded as one of the most potent forces in popular music of the last 50 years. Steely Dan created a distinctive sound, a unique blend of rock, jazz, pop, and R n’ B, with ironic lyrics containing obscure literary and cultural references.
Among the top lots coming up are his 1957 Fender Duo Sonic “Aja” guitar, a stage-played signature model Sadowsky guitar, rare Bacon and Day Senorita S.6 model guitar, and his 1936 D’Angelico Excel guitar. Amplifiers, speaker cabinets, recording gear, and ephemera will also be under the hammer.
