The rarest Beatles record of all comes up at Julien’s Music Icons sale in Liverpool on May 9.

John Lennon’s 1966 signed album Yesterday and Today is the highlight of the sale.

The US First State Butcher prototype stereo was displayed on the way of his Dakota apartment in New York.

Lennon then gave it to Beatles fan and bootleg collector Dave Morell in exchange for Morrell’s Yellow Matter Custard bootleg.

He inscribed it:

To Dave from John Lennon, Dec 7th 71.

The cover includes autographs by Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney.

It is estimated to sell for US$160,000-US$180,000.

The sale will be held live and online at The Beatles Story Museum in Liverpool.

It will include a Beatles-signed baseball from their final US concert and John Lennon’s signed guitar strap.

The baseball was signed for Mike Murphy, who had been manager at the San Francisco Giant’s clubhouse for the previous 40 years.

On May 10 fans and collectors are invited to bring their Beatles memorabilia for appraisal at the Fab4 Cafe at the Royal Albert Dock.
