Mellow and fruitful trees

THERE are few plants that offer interest during every season in the garden.

Many have stunning displays in spring and once they have done their thing, they then let something else take centre stage and are quite happy to melt into the background.

Others flower their little hearts out during summer and at this time of the year, are busy becoming next year’s compost, having been removed from the pots or borders that they earlier lit up with their beauty.
