Enjoy fruits of labour by storing properly

SEPTEMBER has arrived and here’s hoping that after this fantastic Irish summer your veggie plot and tunnel are producing profusely.

Enjoy fruits of labour by storing properly

Perhaps harvests are proving to be more than you can cope with, so my advice is to enjoy as much fresh produce as possible, and put a good plan in place to store the rest, albeit short or long term.

Storing fruit and vegetables is a natural progression for folk that grow their own and is the best solution for dealing with a glut as it means you enjoy the fruits of your labour and home-grown food throughout the winter. If given a dry, well-ventilated space and checked regularly, certain fruit and vegetables will store very well.
