Fogarty fortress lost in fog of history and time

Trish Dromey on a castle that survived the turmoil of Irish history in the same Gaelic family hands from the middle ages until the present, when sadly, it is finally up for sale.

In the last four hundred years or so, Castle Fogarty in Tipperary passed out of family ownership just once — when Cromwell confiscated it in the 1650s and the O’Fogarty’s had to buy it back from one of his troopers.
