Templemore home is in Tipp-top condition
Tens of thousands of people have signalled their wish to go to Tipperary’s Templemore — at least in a temporary capacity.

The last two tranches of applications to train for the Garda force at Templemore’s Garda College saw 16,700 applications made at the start of this year for 600 advertised trainee places.
Even more people, 23,000, applied back in 2014 after the college was controversially closed for a five-year hiatus.

But, for those who want to move to Templemore on a more permanent basis, local estate agent Charles Wallace has just the place, The Abbey, within a short beat or march of the town’s eight-acre college campus, and close to lakeside walks.
On a private, rural site near a large farm just on the edge of the north Tipp town which is served by the Cork-Dublin rail line, it’s a modern 2,500 sq ft family home in tip-top condition, inside and outside, with very high standards of craftsmanship, decor and furnishings, a real walk-in job, according to the agents.

They guide the spick and span two-storey home at €350,000 for its relocating owners, and features include part-stone facade between matching front bay windows, concrete first floor, underfloor heating, surround sound, Jacuzzi bath in the main bathroom, and a fine, high-ceilinged sunroom off the kitchen/diner with wall-mounted fire, as well as having two of its four bedrooms en suite.

There’s also a formal sitting room, with white marble fireplace, and second reception with bay window, currently in use as a study.
Externally, the grounds are manicured, with cobble drive, and large rear deck and patio off the sunroom, with views to the Devil’s Bit mountain range off to the west, popular with hikers and walkers and a scenic backdrop for the town, which has a population of approximately 2,000, plus or minus a few hundred trainee gardaí.
: Strike out for Templemore.
