Swings and roundabouts as electrical retailer O’Callaghan Sound and Vision moves
Their move from 1,600sq ft at 62 Oliver Plunkett St to Unit 5 at the Kinsale Road Business Park is the equivalent of getting a 75in TV screen, after years watching on a traditional box telly.
O’Callaghan’s new profile superstore unit by the Kinsale Road Roundabout had been marketed by Lisney at €10 psf on a long lease for a renovated store with easy parking and access, near Smyths, Woodies, and Harvey Norman.
The Kinsale Road Business Park was acquired two years ago by Bennett Property for €3.5m, with a then-quoted €400k a year rental income.
The 32-year-old Cork City firm has now vacated 62 Oliver Plunkett St, near Caseys and the back of the English Market, and it’s up to let via David McCarthy of Lisney, who seeks €75,000 pa on a new lease for the landlord.
The now available 62 Oliver Plunkett St is a self-contained ground floor retail unit at the junction with the narrow Grafton St which links to the South Mall, and has 1,600 sq ft with ancillary overhead storage.
“There are currently limited opportunities for retailers on the street, and retailers continue to experience better value in terms of rent and lower outgoings than prime high street locations," said David McCarthy.
