Upmarket Elden in Maryborough Hill, Douglas is still crisp and modern

IT’S eight years now since the scheme of contemporary-styled houses at Cork’s Elden got launched — and they still look crisp and modern.

The development of 27 upmarket houses, in a range of types, plus 47 apartments was designed for O’Flynn Construction by Hogan Associates, and was built on the large gardens/grounds of an original house called Elden, just above the Maryborough House Hotel and Orchards section of very large one-offs in the hotel grounds.

Now, No 17 Elden comes to market in good condition for private owners with Florence Gabriel and Ann O’Mahony of Sherry FitzGerald, who guided the three-bed end terrace home at €350,000.

But, the first week or so has seen it bid to €380,000 in offers, with very strong viewing interest (launch price in ‘07 for end terraces was about €500k) Sales and resales have been consistent since 2014, with remaining new mid-terrace house sales gone through at €288k to €320k inc VAT.

No 17 has its main living room at a half-landing level, with rear patio garden access (there’s also side gate access), has one of its three beds en suite and it’s appealing to traders down, in the main, and some first time buyers.
