Ruins of castle overlook prime Kilmaclenine farmland

LAID out in grass with a central roadway and enjoying good road frontage, a 59-acre holding in the townland of Kilmaclenine, North Cork, has recently come on to the market with Ballinhassig-based auctioneer Christy Buckley.

“It’s good land,” says Christy, “and it’s in one lovely block that’s overlooked by the ruins of a castle.”

The situation of the land is between the towns of Buttevant, Mallow and Lisgriffin.

As Christy points out, it’s an area of progressive farming of the highest quality and consequentially, there is already strong interest in this holding.

The property has been farmed on continuous basis for several years, being used most recently as a dry stock holding. In addition, over half of the land has been newly reseeded and it has good supply of water and electricity.

There is a house and yard coming with the property too, but these are in need of attention. The asking price is not set and the property is open to offers from interested parties.

In recent months, a similar property fetche €13,000 per acre and it wouldn’t be surprising if this farm achieved a similar figure.
