THE Brightwater house scheme by O’Flynn Construction brought a population boost to Crosshaven, the scenic cul de sac village and boating mecca in Cork harbour, with 200 houses built back in the early 2000s.
Now, there’s both trading up and trading down activity within the scheme as well, as families grow and mature and needs alter: the scheme has 10 different house types to suit.
Getting interest from within Brightwater, as well as in the Crosshaven and south Cork hinterland, is the detached four-bed No 126, on a corner site with south-facing back garden.
Estate agent Paul O’Shea of Sherry FitzGerald had guided No 126 at €295,00 in an autumn launch and it has gone just over that in offers now, to stand at €300k with a couple of active bidders and with some more viewers watching and waiting.
The interior here is excellent, says Mr O’Shea, with interconnecting front and back reception rooms, and with the rear family/diningroom then spanning across the back of the house to link to the kitchen.
Most of the ground floor is tiled, with a large rug on a solid wood floor for contrast in the 17’ by 12. sitting room, with two sets of part-glazed double doors to the hall, and again back to the rear family/dining. It’s a nice flow, and viewers like it, adds Mr O’Shea.
No 126 gets all the basics in, such as a utility, guest WC and en suite master bedroom, but the floor area of 1,340 sq ft means some compromises in rooms sizes, especially upstairs where there’s one single bedroom and three described as doubles, but the largest of the three is just 12’ by 11’, with built-ins.
Outside, the gardens beyond cast iron gates are walled-in and planted, with a seating/decking area by a side boundary wall, and the walls have been planted along for a greening-in boundary screen, while the front of No 126 looks over a public green space. Brightwater is built behind the impressive tall Crosshaven House, right in the middle of the village with shops, bars and restaurants all within a walk, as are beaches and boating amenities, with that great amenity walk back along the Owenabue river estuary towards Carrigaline.
A good home in rightly-popular coastal Crosshaven.
