Suburban splendour

Lost in last week’s Cover Story four pages coverage of the Douglas, Cork house called Glencorron, was the all-essential ‘fact panel’ - now seen here - which gives the low-down on this fine suburban home, for sale this month with agent Tom Woodward of Woodwards.

There’s early interest in this fine, genteel-era home from a few high net worth individuals, Mr Woodward indicates, as the location within a short walk of all of Douglas’ amenities is ace, The detached home extends to about 2,400 sq ft, and has been gently added to with a larger kitchen, but features like the original terrazzo floors have been kept. Guide price is €925,000, it’s one of several upper-end Douglas houses now listed with Woodwards, and according to other agents active here, the suburb (like Blackrock) seems to be getting an above-average lift due to pent up demand.

VERDICT: Best of old, and comfortable new.
