Splendid views big attraction at ‘Tigh an Dauber’
TWELVE years ago, the owner of this Spunkane, Waterville home overlooking one of Kerry’s most majestic vistas spotted it for sale in the Irish Examiner. He visited it that very Saturday and agreed to buy it– all in the one day.
Now, after 12 years of careful minding, appreciation and upgrading to include a conservatory with views, he’s decided it’s time to sell it on to new owners.
Built to a traditional style back in 1985, it replaced an older dwelling and inherited its name as Gaeilge: “it’s called ‘Tigh an Dauber’, as apparently an earlier owner was a painter, but was more of a dauber,” says auctioneer Paul Stephenson of Sherry FitzGerald Stephenson Crean, who’s now back on the re-sale case.
He guides at €350,000, and says a nearby Waterville home without the same views recently sold for that sort of sum, and he’s now receiving inquiries from the UK, Switzerland and the US.
This Tigh an Dauber is a 2,200 sq ft high-quality home for all seasons, looking traditional but with full modern spec and build, with all four of its bedrooms en suite.
It has a Waterford Stanley range in the kitchen, and central vacuum for easy cleaning. It’s on a site of 1.25 acre within a mile walk of Waterville village, with views (best seen from the new sun-room) out past to Ballinskelligs bay, Waterville’s links golf course and fields in between.
Look old, but good as new.
