“There’s one of the best uses of space I’ve even seen in a bungalow,” says estate agent, Stephen Clarke, of this Iona Road, Mayfield home.
The extended, five-bed bungalow, called Moorhill, not only has excellent quality and spacious rooms, including a dance studio, it also has a detached garage and an adjoining workshop, giving a further 750 sq ft.
There’s three reception rooms, or two, plus dance studio/play room, a very good family bathroom with sunken bath, double shower and pebble mosaic-effect screening wall, and good insulation standards.
It’s also got a shower room, one of the five bedrooms is en-suite, and there’s very good storage space off the attic eaves, says the REA O’Donoghue Clarke selling agent, who’s open to offers around €275,000.
Best room is the bright, 24’ by 11’ living room, with a cast-iron stove sent into a white marble fireplace, with lots of shelving/storage, and most of the bedrooms have got built-in wardrobes.
Location is on popular Iona Road in Mayfield, just a couple of miles north of the city centre, and the house has a southerly aspect, with front garden, small back garden and parking.
VERDICT: A very adaptable and decent amount of space, with lots of work done.

Stone inside, stone outside, and magnificent waterfalls tumbling over rock pools only a minute or two away at Ouvane is a shorthand description of this Ballylickey home.
The modern, detached, take on the traditional West Cork farmhouse is a comfortable, well-built 1,800 sq ft three/four-bed home on a 1.25 acre site with detached garage, for sale with estate agent James Crowley with a €320,000 price tag.
All faced in stone externally, it also has exposed natural stone as a feature inside, along one wall, and also in the chimney breast hearth.
One of its two ground floor reception rooms could become a fourth bedroom quite easily, says Mr Crowley, who adds that the property is very private and well priced for its quality. Features include central vacuum, rounded plasterwork around window opes, and lots of timber.
VERDICT: Ballylickey’s a beauty spot.

Interest has been shown in this immaculate, three-storey townhouse, says agent, Jeremy Murphy, who forecasts a brief market sojourn for No 51, Leslie’s Arch, Ballincollig.
The property is at the rear of the Old Quarter estate, towards the woodland that forms the boundary of the Royal Gunpowder Mills, now a regional park for Cork county.
While the setting is bosky on one side, it’s bustling on the other: just up the road is the new town centre with a host of shopping choices.
While the house offers quality, townhouse accommodation, it is also semi-detached, because it’s end-of-row, which makes it a good bet for young families, too.
The interior lives up to expectations — it’s immaculate, says Murphy, and ideal for owner/occupiers.
The space is spread over three floors, with a spacious open-plan kitchen/dining room with utility at ground level, as well as a front-facing lounge on the ground floor and another first-floor living room to take in the views.
The master suite is at this level, too, with three double bedrooms overhead, one of which is en suite, along with a main bathroom.
VERDICT: Ideal for young couples or families, as it comes with rear garden and parking to the front. A move-in buy.

The views are the star at (and they give the name to) Ilen View House.
The new-build, five-bed, 2,200 sq ft detached home on a half-acre site is high up above the Skibbereen to Ballydehob/Schull N71 road, by Mohonagh, and gives perspective on the tidal reaches of the Ilen River as it makes its way towards the sea.
Far below the house, by the river, is the base of the Skibbereen rowing club. Snaking south and west, the river can be traced heading towards the boatyard at Oldcourt, and there’s even the goal/end-point of the open sea by Baltimore hoving into the distant view.
This house is about two miles from Skibbereen, says selling agent, Pat Maguire, who prices it at €295,000 and says it has a quality interior, with a focus on the river aspect.
The house design is stepped back to conceal its size, with the upper-floor rooms towards the rear having side views. Three of the five bedrooms are en-suite, the stairs is in ash, and the kitchen (floor is tiled) is fitted with cream units and hob.
VERDICT: New, it needs little more than furniture and a splash of colour to zing into life, and the views are great.
