Rising theme at Kerry sale

This 1916 Easter Rising medal comes under the hammer at Tuesday's sale at Kerry Auction Rooms in Tralee.

This 1916 armband will be sold at the auction in Tralee.

FROM Easter Rising memorabilia to old GAA programmes and antique furniture to vinyl records, there is much to interest collectors at next Tuesday’s sale at Kerry Auction Rooms, Moyderwell, Tralee, at noon.

Football and hurling programmes, mainly of Cork interest from the 1950s to the 1980s, feature alongside a collection of over 70 signed and framed vinyl singles from the Bee Gees, Cliff Richard and Boyzone to Barbara Streisand, Blondie and Pavarotti. This will be offered first as one lot, estimated at €5,500 to €6,500.

If unsold the records will be offered immediately afterwards in individual lots.

There is a 1916 Easter Rising medal awarded to John P Catlin, B First Batt, Four Courts Number 1255 (€2,500-€3,500) among a collection of 1916 items, including a 1916 volunteers armband. The sale will include furniture, porcelain, pottery, paintings, coins, banknotes and jewellery. Viewing from 11am to 6pm today, noon to 6pm tomorrow, 11am to 9pm on Monday and from 9am on the day of the auction.
