Four-bed in Cork’s Montenotte

RE-INTERPRETING is a strong part of doing up an older house, and in the case of No 23 St Joseph’s Drive, Montenotte, Cork, many of the old features have been retained, in what is still a distinctly modern upgrade.

Four-bed in Cork’s Montenotte

Now a four- to five-bed family home, this semi-d is new to the market with Michael Downey, of ERA Downey McCarthy, who says it comes with a host of extras.

And it’s as neat as a new pin with cobble lock driveway, new windows, gleaming paintwork and a buffed and polished interior. The owners are quite house proud, says Michael Downey, and a buyer will be getting a property in superb condition, along with some great fireplaces and a great back garden.

The house has been extended over two levels, he says, and now No 23 comes with four bedrooms, two large living rooms, a modern fitted kitchen and a generous 1,400 square feet of space.

And the house has high ceilings with picture rails, and a vanilla kitchen with separate utility room and dining area.

The lounge is part of a side extension and is used as a ground-floor bedroom, but could work as home office or playroom, depending on family profile. It also has an en-suite wet room.

Overhead, there’s a master bedroom, again like the two formal living rooms, with period fireplace, a second double bedroom, a single bedroom and the new addition, which is a fourth, double bedroom with plenty of storage.

No 23 is low-maintenance, with plenty of parking to the front, and the back garden is long, now overlooked and gets the sun in the afternoon, says Michael Downey.

He’s seeking a price in the region of €350,000 for the four-bed family home in one of the oldest suburbs of the city.
