Location sets a Killarney five-bed apart from the rest
“If you live here, you won’t need a car for anything, your kids can walk to school and to all of the other amenities of the town,” says Tanya O’Shea of Coyne and Culloty auctioneers.
While many of Killarney’s families have had to trade up to larger homes on the town’s outskirts just for choice of modern stock for growing broods, the big advantage here is the modernity of this 1992-built, c 2,500 sq ft house, in a mature and settled inner suburb — literally the Golden Mile.
“House just don’t come up for sale very often on the Countess Road, and when they do they are generally older, or smaller, than this new-to-market offering,” she adds as first viewings kicked off only in the last few days .
So, despite the €795,000 asking price, she expects viewing interest and a sale — with the eventual selling price down to bidders’ financial standing in the current climate. It won’t be for the want of wishing and trying, at any rate. ” A few years ago, it would just have walked out the door; this years things are obviously slower, but I’m very confident, ” says Ms O’Shea of this detached home at the foot of the Countess Road
The five-bedroomed house is on a large-ish site, too, “ideal for home hunters looking for that ideal place to put down roots, and raise a family,” says its selling agent. And, that’s more or less what the vendors did, building it in the early 1990s, and only now selling up as the family has grown, and they’ve a cracking good site in one of the more scenic areas around Killarney to move out to.
This double-fronted, bay-windowed 2,500 sq ft house has two reception rooms, a dining room, a kitchen with cherrywood units and island, and decorative features include antique fireplaces, an internal arch and parquet flooring, and the sale includes a Waterford Crystal chandelier, and several of feature windows have expensive curtains included in the sale.
