Massive Kerry residence at a bargain reduced price
Originally guided in the high €500,000s, the new ‘priced to sell’ guide now on this 5,300 sq ft (including 1,600 sq ft of storage space) Cahirsiveen house is €395,000, via agent Maurice Fitzgerald of Fitzgerald and O’Connor.
He says that its owners bought it back around the year 2000, building on to the side with two en suite bedrooms added on over the double garage.
Given the Ring of Kerry setting and golf nearby, as well as at Waterville’s famed course, Mr Fitzgerald expects interest both locally and from wider afield, perhaps as a luxury holiday home. And, he notes, “those thinking of building their own house on a site should have a look too because you wouldn’t build anything of this size for this sort of money.”
There’s six bedrooms here in total, three en suite, and one has what’s described as a hydrotherapy bath, while another of the bedrooms is up at attic level, with Velux windows to the back of the house, giving some great views of Beentee mountain behind the town.
The front faces towards the bay, Valentia island and the Atlantic, with stunning varied views: Cahirsiveen itself a has a fairly recently added 99-berth marina, and a second marina is currently being constructed at Knightstown, closer to open sea.
Living quarters here include a formal dining room with Valentia stone fireplace, drawing room with gas fireplace, a library/study, family room with open fireplace and proximity to the garage corridor, breakfast room, and a smart kitchen with Smeg double oven and gas hob: both the kitchen and breakfast room have porcelain tiled floors.
Because of the spaciousness, there’s also a home gym, with shower room alongside, and this can have several other uses, eg guest bedroom, family den, etc, and there’s also a wet room/shower room with disabled access as a feature.
Extra spending has gone into this house in terms of things like Valentia slate steps to the house, quality double garage with double-skin insulated electric doors, a dual fuel generator for power supply back-up, three’s an alarm, external lighting and a water feature, wrought iron gates on both entrances to the property, on about half an acre of ground all-in.
