Melbourn Close garden’s likely to be a deal-clincher
This c30-year-old Douglas area semi-d packs a few surprises punches, but none as attractive as that garden, laid out in three tiers at the back, some 70’ deep and with a mix of good hard and soft landscaping plus water feature. It is likely to be a deal-clincher, for the right buyer, someone itching to get down and dirty on the horticultural front as spring is sprung.
The house is no shrinking violet either though, with a good 1,800 sq ft of space, four-bedrooms, an interior bang up to speed, a front drive big enough for three cars, and a side gable with Perspex lean-to as a valuable covered area for bikes, bins, barbecues or clothes airing.
Auctioneer Con Nagle of Global Properties guides No 3 Melbourn Close (in at the back, far end of the earlier-built Calderwood Estate,) at €355,000, and he gives the back garden star billing as Chelsea Flower Show standard.
Melbourn Close, built by O’Hallorans around 1979, has solid semi-ds in a cul de sac ranged around a green area, and this prize offering has, he says, a number of extra features, and he pins the word ‘designer’ to several, such as the bathroom tiling and the master bedroom’s glossy Sliderobes.
The house has an easy-keep brick and dash exterior with pvc double glazing, marble-floored hall, kitchen/dining room, also with marble floor and there’s a stone fireplace with inset Stanley stove as well as a 18’ by 12’ lounge with slate fireplace and solid wood floor. There’s also a study/second lounge, utility with guest WC and two of the four bedrooms are doubles (no en suite, though,) with a good main bathroom with feature tiling.
The vendors are selling to make a move to the country.
