Price drop at sought-after suburban house scheme
A bit of an exception back in the 1990s was Maryborough Court, a scheme of 40 or so houses built by the well-regarded McDonalds of Waterford in the Cork suburb of Douglas.
They joined the throng of competing local builders as Maryborough Hill had started what turned out to be two decades and more of house development – it is still in train, with even more houses planned for Douglas Golf Club in a medium to long-term course relocation proposal.
Inside Maryborough Court (the entrance is shared with Lissadell), by the top of Maryborough Hill, the four/five-bedroomed detached family home No 33 has had a recent price drop, down from an initial €480,000 to €395,000 with Dennis Guerin of Frank V Murphy & Co.
He reckons that is great value for a quality, well kept detached home of 1,600 sq ft, with an upper floor room suitable an office, small fifth bedroom or a nursery.
No 33 has a hall, 17’ by 8’ dining room with bay window, a far wider (15’ by 12’) lounge with wood floor and fireplace.
This is linked by double doors to a 13’ by 12’ sitting room with cast iron fireplace, along with a similar sized kitchen/dining room with cream units. The back garden faces east and has a sun trap/patio, decking and shed at garden’s end and patio access.
The brick-faced house is double glazed and has gas central heating.
