Whopping reduction in bungalow

DOWN hugely in price is Bay House, near Durrus, and looking out along the glories of Dunmanus Bay in west Cork.

The 3,600 sq ft double gabled bungalow is on a water-fronting site of 1.7 acres, finished and kept on the inside to a good level, and with five bedrooms, two of them en suite. It went up for sale late in 2008, rather optimistically guiding €1.25 million. Now, that has been slashed by a whopping €500,000, with a new AMV of €750,000 quoted by joint agents Savills in Cork city, and Charles P McCarthy in Skibbereen.

The setting, a mile or so from Durrus is the star, one of the south-west’s nicest peninsulas, still under-visited relative to its charms, and Bay House has access to the water from a shingle beach at the end of its lawned gardens.
