Prime location, good space and a great garden — Kilcrea has it all

Its Rochestown Road address, within a short walk of Douglas village in Cork, is considered prime, and has been for decades: few other residential settings have knocked it off its perch. Some of the very dearest houses sold in the city during the decade of boom were on the right hand side of the road here leaving the suburbs. Knockrea (opposite Kiltegan, by the grassy lay-by) isn’t quite in their league, but then again it isn’t in the €2 to €4 million bracket either.

Far from it, in fact, it is coming up for sale in the sub-€1 million league, priced at €950,000 via Brian Olden of Cohalan Downing estate agents. He knows he has a seller on his hands here with this quality 2,300 sq ft product: when the market steadies and settles again, this is the sort of product families will kick themselves for not going for in ’09.
