Kenmare views a bonus, but home needs renovation
The 1,000 sq ft house is in tired decorative order, but the four-acre site on which it stands is top-notch, with spectacular views over Kenmare Bay and partly bounded by the Loch Dubh lake.
“The house needs to be renovated completely,” said Elaine Daly of selling agents Sherry FitzGerald Daly in Kenmare, “but there would be no hope of getting planning for a new house here now. There is enough room for the new owners to extend however they want. The house next door is two-storey, so there is no reason this could not be the same.”
Along with the bedrooms there is also a sun room, a living room, a kitchen, a utility room, two bathrooms and a garage. The mature gardens have been carefully tended over the years and there is a rockery to the front of the house.
“We have had a lot of viewers from Cork and Dublin and think the house will end up as a second or holiday home,” said Daly.
Golfers, in particular, should find the property appealing as it is just 200 yards from the course at Parknasilla, nine miles from the Ring of Kerry club and 13 miles from Kenmare.
On the market since May, the property is priced at €500,000.
