Modern Shearwater has space

THERE was a huge kerfuffle when the Shearwater scheme at Kinsale was first mooted.

Modern Shearwater has space

Objecting residents even took to installing a crane on the former Kinsale Candles site to give an indication of the height of the building.

Now that the pier-front scheme is completed it has become part of the established architecture of the harbour-side town. “People love them now,” says auctioneer Victoria Murphy, “they are very sophisticated and modern and you have everything handled for you.”

Resales have been few and far between; in fact, the Kinsale-based agent feels she may be the first to sell a second hand property in Shearwater.

And it’s no small unit either — this is a three-bedroom, first floor apartment with oblique views over the harbour.

In this case, there is seating right into the bay window, says the agent and all of the accommodation is on one level, so it’s ideal for downsizers, she says.

Each unit has designated parking with a lift to each floor.

The open plan living area of the property is modern with light touch and neutral decor.

The kitchen has blond wood and granite fittings, says Victoria Murphy. All bedrooms are fitted and are doubles, with one ensuite and a large, family bathroom with separate shower.

The guide price of €860,000 reflects the Kinsale location.
