Spacious and well-located Bramley is pick of the bunch in Bandon

Understated and modest, Bramley at Killountain comes with excellent accommodation, a site of just under an acre-and-a-half and a location close to Bandon golf and tennis clubs.

It was built to an architect’s design some 30 years ago, says Don Brennan of Sherry FitzGerald Brennan Busteed and has been well-maintained since then.

The present owners have been in situ for the last three years and as they’re moving Cork-wards, the property is now up for sale.

It’s one of the best houses on the market in Bandon at the moment, says Mr Brennan, because it combines a convenient location with complete privacy and a rural ambience. So it’s no surprise that the asking price is in the region of €615,000.

The land surrounding the house is laid out in lawns, shrub beds and has a number of trees, including cherry, apple, beech, sycamore, larch and oak. Stone and ditch boundaries define the site.

Just a few hundred yards from the entrance to Bandon Golf Club, Bramley is a mile from Bandon town on the Clonakilty/Bantry road. It has, according to Mr Brennan, a ‘beautiful’ sitting room with a wall of windows to the south side, and generous dimensions of 19’ by 17’. It also includes a white marble fireplace and French doors to the garden. The kitchen has a wraparound breakfast bar and a bank of pine units. The living room has extra heating with an antique stove and steps down to a sunroom which also doubles as a dining room. Other rooms include an attached garage, utility room and a hot press.

The rest of the house is given over to four bedrooms, one of which is en-suite and a main bathroom: both bathrooms have separate baths and showers and good-quality tiling. Oil heating and an alarm is installed and the house is open to offers in the region of €615,000.
