YOU could walk down to the strand in togs and wrapped in your towel, and people wouldn’t look askance at you. So says Conn Keogh Auctioneers’ Mairead Keogh, who is selling a Victorian semi on Upper Strand in Youghal, east Cork.

Now seeking a fast sale after a deal fell through at the last moment, she guides the four-bedroom home at €320,000-plus, and reckons it is going to appeal to buyers in particular from Cork city.

“You won’t get anything of this quality, with a lovely old house feel, for this price,” she says Renbrack, which is set in a quiet cul de sac, 300 yards from the beach and miles of strand at Youghal.

“It is a stroll, not even a walk to the beach, really, and the location is very good,” she adds.

The house, a semi-detached from the late 1800s, when Youghal came into its own as a beach resort and trading town, is elevated over the approach road to the town, with views towards Capel Island, the best views being from the upper floor rooms.

The house has about 1,400 sq ft of living space, with four bedrooms, two of which require some upgrading.
