A hint of Down Under

THERE’S an Aussie/outdoor living feel to the Gables, a detached split level house in Glanmire’s exclusive Castlejane estate a few miles commute from Cork city.

The Gables’ owners came back to Ireland from Down Under to this place with space, and over a few years worked a makeover magic on what was a home on a sizeable half an acre, within an up-market scheme of one-off homes, but was then clearly in need of TLC.

In the process, they have opened up the 2,200 sq ft home and maximised its creature comforts inside and out, and tamed its half acre of private, super-secure back gardens.
