WITH a sports club going a-roving, a prime student accommodation development site is about to change hands on Cork city’s Bandon Road.

Prime city site has strong sporting connection

Lough Rovers GAA are about to vacate their long-standing club premises near the Lough amenity area, close to UCC and College Road, and within a short walk of the city centre.

The club has playing fields at the Lee Road.

Already, a five-storey, 19-apartment student scheme is being built behind by an emerging developer, Ballincollig-based Deirdre Lee (nee Nangle) who has become active in the city’s and suburban residential property market.

Barry Nagle of Global Properties is handling the sale of Lough Rovers hall at 51 to 53 Bandon Road, and gives the 4,800 sq ft at ground level property a guide of €800,000.

It has been used for sports training, boxing, games and has a club licence. Lough Rovers intend to develop a new hall by their playing pitches.

The Bandon Road property has 80’ frontage, and is 60’ deep, currently is two storey, but a developer might get permission for a three storey development, set back from its traditional facade.

His market is likely to be builders and developers with an existing portfolio.

Details: Global Properties 021 4273038.
