Lough Derg is on the doorstep

MOUNTSHANNON or Monaco that's the choice, according to auctioneer Peter Kiely, who says the marina at Mountshannon is the rival of some continental resorts.

The new marina there may be part of the reason why Mountshannon is fast becoming the Home of the Whopper in property terms.

Modest dwellings on the shores of Lough Derg are usually built at around 2,500 sq. ft. It has the kind of marina found on picture postcards and it's also an area where going large seems to be the popular option. Large houses on the shores of Lough Derg are the stock in trade of auctioneers in the area, and Peter Kiely of Killaloe is no exception.

He's currently selling a 2,675 sq. ft. house in Clonamirren on half an acre from 380,000.

This dormer bungalow is newly-built and hasn't been lived in yet, which explains why is comes without a kitchen that is at the new owners discretion.

Extras like a sun room are included and quality wooden floors are laid throughout, with quarry tiles in hard wear areas. Four of the property's five bedrooms are en suite and all tiling is fully finished.

The main reception rooms include a sitting room and large, kitchen/dining room, with pine joinery throughout and a lovely staircase in the main hallway. The gardens are laid out in lawn and there is also a double carport to the rear. The house is on 0.57 of an acre and is half a mile from Mountshannon village and the marina.
