DORMER bungalows are the new Irish vernacular, but one that promises to go a small bit closer to traditional house styles favoured by planners is on offer at Ardoughter, near Ballyduff in Kerry.

The reason it has such promise is because it hasn’t been built yet: prospective buyers are shown a photo of the view or walked to the site, and can pore over an artist’s sketch of what the proposed four-bed, 1,900 sq ft can be like.

Features include raised gable barges, ornate dormer windows with finials and ornate chimney pots, protruding bays and entry porch, plus a side sun room.
