Realistic price for spacious property in this upmarket city location

OODLES of space and bedrooms, mature gardens and greenery cloaking its walls, a top-notch address — the only problem with 6 Knockrea Park in Cork’s inner Douglas is the affordability factor.

An over-size semi-d, it carries a realistic €550,000 price guide, quoted by Dermot Lynch of Irish and European Real Estate, and even at this level, well up the trading-up ladder in terms of cost, it needs a good bit of further work and spending.

Knockrea is one of the most popular of the up-market Douglas parks (at this sort of price level the word ‘estate’ tends to get swapped for the word ‘park’,) and it is a fine leafy cul de sac of about 16 houses - counting the homes here is hazardous, as there is no number 13, it was considered unlucky.
