Tennis lovers will head for Wilderun

THINK Currabinny in Cork Harbour and you automatically think boating. But, boats aren’t the only activity down in convenient Currabinny, as tennis is also an option.

The fabulous terrace of period homes down by the pier has a communal grass tennis court in front, but for those that want to go solo the house Wilderun has its very own hard surface court on its acre of grounds.

It has been home to a tennis coach, and is well fenced in, and for those into other sports there are walking/orienteering/cycling options in the nearby Coillte woods and the pier at Currabinny is about half a mile away.

Architect designed in the mid to late 1990s and tucked into a site sloping away from the road by the entrance to Curabinny woods, this house is a simple modern two storey build, with its living quarters at the upper level, all open plan layout, and has four bedrooms underneath.

There is a balcony/gangplank entrance to the mid-ships level, and a short run of steps leads up and intrudes into the single room upper level, measuring 29’ by 25’, or about 750 sq ft of space. This level has kitchen, living and dining areas all together and allocated to different sections, it has a beech floor throughout, has fitted coloured kitchen units and dark splashback tiles, and also has a large (11’ by 7’) south-facing balcony off the min areas with enough space for a gas barbecue and seating.

Downstairs, there’re four bedrooms, one ensuite, a main bathroom and the utility room is at this lower level as well.

The house, designed by architect Gerard Kennedy, has about 1,800 sq ft of space in all and is on the market with Peter Cave of Hamilton Osborne King, who gives it a guide price from €380,000.
