All roads lead to Ring village

WHEN driving through Clonakilty many people may be tempted to continue west to the beaches, or drive around the bay to the beautiful strand in Inchydoney. Few, however take the less travelled road out to Ring.

All roads lead to Ring village

To get to Ring village, it’s necessary to double back along Clonakilty bay. The scenic, waterside route will lead on towards rocky coves and places like Ballinglanna or Butlerstown, and doesn’t really lead to anywhere in particalar.

And that, in a nutshell, is one of its joys.

It is located just two miles from Clonakilty town, and Ring has piers and slipways, plenty of bird life and lots of boat moorings.

You could drive through Clonakilty and not even realise the place is on the waters.

There are three three pubs, one of which, Deasy’s, also offers excellent food.

And, even though there’s a fair sprinkling of houses, both village, terraced and detached, they rarely come up for sale.

So, there’ll be lots of interest in Ahidelake House, a 2,000 sq ft bungalow on a half acre village site with scenic harbour views.

It appears to be an earlier system-built house, in very good overall condition and with good-sized rooms as well, which include a large lounge opening to a 450 sq ft deck area with views, a second big reception room, a kitchen/dining room, four bedrooms, plus two bathrooms and a utility room. There’s also a detached garage or outside office of about 300 sq ft.

Selling agent is Martin Kelleher of SWS Property Services, who seeks €650,000 who says Ahielake House is “a very comfortable home in a very special location”.
