Housing, hospitality scheme replaces famed Maudie Macs

MENTION Newtwopothouse and people might look at you a bit funny. Mention Maudie Macs, and thousands will nod in assent, knowing the roadside setting to the inch.

Housing, hospitality scheme replaces famed Maudie Macs

The site of the former dance hall a few miles north of Mallow was bought by seasoned hoteliers and developers a few years ago, and is now being reborn in a mixed housing and hospitality scheme called Greenvale.

There’s planning permission just secured for a 40-bed hotel with restaurant and private dining rooms.

In addition, there’s 39 houses developed, plus six serviced sites, just released for sale.

Selling agent is Mark Kelly, newly appointed head of residential sales at Lisney in Cork city, and houses vary from three-bed semis to four-bed, three-storey homes, four bed detached houses and serviced sites.

Developers are Cladagh Developments, based at the Kinglsey Hotel at Victoria Cross in Cork city, and prices start at €240,000 for a three-bed of 1,160 sq ft.

Prices for the larger four-bed and detached homes are being finalised, and prices for the serviced sites have not yet been fixed, said Mr Kelly.
