Low density village development

A HIGH-QUALITY, low-density development is the promise of builder John Barry of Castlelands Construction, as he kicks the diggers into gear at Whitechurch, a few miles north of Cork city.

Low density village development

He is to build just 60 houses on a site of 11 acres in the village which is certain to see other, larger and assuredly higher density developments following in its train.

His scheme Castle White is to have three and four bed townhouses and semi and detached homes, with an open layout and lots and lots of green space.

“With the move to higher densities everywhere, you’ll hardly ever again see a development at such a low density,” says Michael O’Donovan of Sherry FitzGerald O’Donovan auctioneers.

He sells for John Barry in his schemes in Mallow and Midleton, and the same developer also has homes under construction in Limerick’s Castletroy, is about to develop a residential project as well in Kilkenny and has long-term goals for the Cork city-Mallow corridor in particular. Whitechurch is only four miles from the city boundaries, with Blackpool now a strong shopping and commercial location.

Prices are due to average €400,000 for the detached homes, and €300,000 for the semis, with 10 style and size choices in all.

Specification is high, including underfloor heating and Jacuzzis in the detached homes, as well as cobble lock drives and foot paths.
