FOUNDATIONS will be poured next week on a new development of large, detached houses in Beaufort, Co Kerry.

The sweetener for sales includes 10-year membership of the adjoining golf club.

According to auctioneer, John Buckley, there should be considerable interest locally in these 2,700 square foot houses, both from expats and locals.

With Killarney just a short drive away, the area would be ideal for commuters and, as can be expected for this area, the setting is also a draw.

Built on part of the Chuchtown estate, the new development will be surrounded by stands of mature trees with the McGillicuddy Reeks in the background.

Throw in a 12th century castle and a couple of fairy forts and you have an enviable location.

The prices have not yet been decided for these four-bed, four ensuite properties, but should be in the late €300,000’s, says John Buckley.

The properties will include a stone finish to the front elevation.

Cleverly enough, the sunrooms include a working fireplace for cosiness, after a hard day on the greens.
