Bar in Roy’s place could be cash Cow

The bar is in Roy Keane’s native place Mayfield, in a high density residential area where bars are treated seriously by customers and owners alike.

To treat on the purchase of this property would-be buyers will need to be talking sums close to €2.2 million, says estate agent Frank V Murphy, who says the bar market has picked up. He has sales in excess of €3 million since the start of the year to underline his claim.

He has sold the Brown Derby at South Gate Bridge for c€760,000, the Weigh House on Barrack Street for c €500,000, the Watercourse in Blackpool for c €500,000, the Trinity on Douglas Street for over €720,000, and the Tower Inn on Tower Street for over €750,000.

“A lot of these bars had been on the market for a long time, and the availability of 75% funding from the banks and the low cost of borrowing has helped get things moving,” he says. The turnover at the Cow Bar is substantial, he says but won’t specify just how large it is, and has scope for growth with adjoining buildings and site space behind. The turnover is almost all drink related, with no food and virtually no entertainment business undertaken.
