Letter to the Editor: Safeguard the mental health of our youth

I have great concerns about the proposals mentioned for the first time on Friday last week regarding Leaving Cert 2020 and indeed other State exams. I very much get the impression that the Minister for Education was forced by the media into publishing half-baked proposals.

As educators, we have been constantly fed on a diet of wellbeing for the past number of years.The question I would like to ask is: “Where is the wellbeing for our Leaving Certs in all of this?” We will not dwell on teacher wellbeing, that’s for another day!
