Letter to the Editor: Race card can work against Trump during the election
Incredibly, US president Donald Trump blames mental illness and video games for the El Paso and Ohio killings (Irish Examiner, August 6). His dependence on the gun lobby for financial and electoral support blinds him to the ease which US citizens can obtain lethal guns.
He chooses to ignore the corrosive social effects of his deliberate inflammatory speech attacking minority groups in a deeply divided society.
Using the race card in Trump’s bid for a second presidential term hopefully will backfire against him as decent Americans refuse to respond to such hate-filled speech.
