Readers' Blog: British in a fine mess of their own making

As the jaw-dropping reality unfolds by the day across the Irish Sea in relation to just how bad a mess the UK has now gotten itself into with Brexit, if it wasn’t so serious not alone for the UK but also for this country, it would be almost hard to imagine how things have unfolded.
Is it any wonder that, one after the other, the ministers appointed to negotiate the Brexit deal on behalf of the UK, have jumped ship once they realised late in the day that the deal was not going to be — as Liam Fox, the business secretary predicted back then — “one of the easiest deals to conclude” (in Britain’s favour naturally) ever.
